(Montel) Jonas Åkesson will join the bilateral trading platform Green Power Hub as COO in March, CEO Morthen Vikanes said on Monday.

Åkesson comes from a position as head of trading and green markets at Markedskraft, where he has worked since 2005.

The firm also hired Michael Gude, former trader at Orsted, in October last year, Vikanes added.

Green Power Hub currently has 136 companies signed up to its bilateral trading platform for guarantees of origin and Nordic elcerts.

Clearing option
The company had also signed a deal with Nasdaq Clearing enabling clearing of elcert contracts, said Nasdaq Commodities Europe CEO Georg Aasen.

The clearing option would be available from 1 March, Vikanes said.

Green Power Hub, in which Montel owns a 33% share, was developed by Norwegian software company ISN – a joint venture between Montel and Phari, a seed capital firm.

From its launch in August to the end of January, 1 TWh of GOs and 246 GW of Nordic elcerts had been traded on the platform.
